Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse: Full Moon Snowshoe & Desert Eclipse

Thursday, March 13th, 2025

Join us for the celestial magic of a full moon and lunar eclipse! Snowshoe under the light of a full moon and end your adventure in the desert during a full, blood-moon lunar eclipse!

ABOUT

Adventure: Our adventure will start off with a guided snowshoe tour in the Cascade Mountains under the glow of a full moon! After we get our fix of winter wonder, we will then head back toward Bend and east into Central Oregon’s vast high desert, watching the full blood moon lunar eclipse with the backdrop of sagebrush and juniper!

Naturalist Guided Experience: During our journey from mountains, hemlock and fir to desert, sagebrush and juniper, your award-winning Naturalist Guide will impart their knowledge of how local flora and fauna survive and thrive in Central Oregon’s vastly diverse ecosystem. To the west of Bend, we see 400+ inches of snow annually yet to the east we rarely see more than 12 inches of rainfall. This extreme juxtaposition has led to an incredible resiliency for our local plants and animals.
As we splash through powder on snowshoe, the lunar eclipse will begin to take shape, slowly but surely transitioning to a full-blood moon eclipse by the time we find ourselves in the desert! Our adventure in the desert will be simple yet inspiring! We will take a moment to be still from the hustle and bustle of life and watch as the full moon turns blood-red while learning about the phenomenon that is an eclipse! We will also have the opportunity to venture into the mouth of a wild lava tube cave!
