ABOUT
Adventure: A super unique and exquisite opportunity exists to walk in historic footsteps of people and cultures gone by. During this event, you will create and add the next story to this incredible and heavenly slice of land! Wrought by volcanic upheavals, tamed by time through natural processes, affected by livelihoods carved from the land, your addition will be created on a snowshoe and hiking adventure. Our destination is an amazing and well-appointed cabin, tucked amidst aspens and ponderosa trees enhanced by an ephemeral stream. The fire-warmed cabin and family style dining sets the stage to solidify friendships and build memories. Your memories will be marked with coursing over the land and snow, understanding native inhabitants, homesteaders and ranchers, a simply amazing ecosystem and building a future marked by sustainable engagement with the land.
Naturalist Guided Experience: A 140,000 acre swath of land is massive in scale! To begin our snowshoe trip, we’ll motor to a region of the ranch to strap on snowshoes. In the style of trappers of a bygone era, we’ll make our way up little draws and over ridges through the forest. Your guide will share nuances about the land and its inhabitants over about a 3-mile trek. The magic of this wholly unique experience will remain instilled within you forever!
Location: The Silvies Valley Ranch straddles the river bearing the name of an 1820’s fur trapper. Ponderosa, juniper, willow and aspen populate the flora along with a rich array of fauna. Our journey meanders around 4000-5000 feet above sea level. New to off-trail snowshoeing? Let Wanderlust Tours teach you fun snowshoeing techniques and tricks. All tours include instruction. Wear winter boots and powder/ski pants to keep your feet and legs dry while snowshoeing.
