Experience complete darkness inside a Lava Tube & emerge to a Super Moon illuminating the high desert

Adventure: Join Wanderlust and Silver Moon Brewing for the Super Moon! This experience includes a subterranean adventure, naturalist guided walk and beer tasting with Silver Moon Brewing - all while taking in the evening’s rise of the Super Moon.

Naturalist Guided Experience: In 1916, Oregon reinstated Prohibition, (4 years prior to the National Prohibition). But just like today, Oregonians loved their alcohol and had a passion for producing. We will start the tour by exploring a cave in a system known to have been used to distill spirits (illegally)! Scattered around the sage-covered High Desert lie ancient caves, buried by the volcanic upheavals in centuries known to past peoples.

Caves: We’ll discover the hidden underground world of these large cool caverns in a way that’s safe and fascinating! Leading small groups with headlamps, our guides will provide in-depth interpretation on the formation of the lava tubes, the wildlife habitat inside the caves, and the many uses of the caves over time from Native American dwellings to cold storage for early Bend residents. Central Oregon’s caves are delicate ecosystems that few have experienced in this way.

Super Moon with Silver Moon: After caving, you will be treated to a full line up of tasters all while enjoying the sky lit by the Super Moon.

Each year produces one month in which our planet’s only natural orbiting satellite will be at its closest proximity to our beloved earth. In 2021 our moon’s perigee will happen on April 27th! The moon will be thousands of miles closer to earth than normal and what that means upon rising over the eastern horizon is a massive orb, orangey in color and something to marvel at. Join our outstanding guides who’ll share fun facts in nature’s fresh air under the bright light of our moon.
