Co-Guided with a member of the Confederated Tribes of warm springs

ABOUT
Adventure: Wanderlust Tours is beyond excited to bring this event to life as part of our co-led tour series with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Join us for a stunning paddling tour on a scenic and flat stretch of the Deschutes River, learning about flora, fauna, and the rich history and significance of the Deschutes to the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.
Naturalist Guided Experience: Early summer is a truly special time for adventure in Central Oregon. The peaks of cascade mountains are still snow-laden while lower in elevation, the flowers have bloomed, animals are scurrying about, and summer is in full effect. This special canoeing tour will feature interpretation from both our award-winning naturalist guides as well as Starla “Pah tin why” Green, a member of the Warm Springs Tribe, with a deeper focus on the cultural and historical significance of the Deschutes River to the native Warm Springs, Wasco, and Paiutes. As we paddle through this stunning waterway, we will learn about native use of this mighty river, with your guides imparting an understanding of river’s (fishing, resources, travel, wild game, hunting, etc. - whatever they would like to focus on / can focus on river specifically, region as whole, or both). Your group will be energized and inspired by the incredible history of this beautiful river that runs through the heart of Bend.
Deschutes River: The paddle is a flatwater (NO rapids) stretch of the Deschutes River in which we will start our paddling up river a ways, before flipping around and enjoying a with-river float back down!
