ABOUT
Adventure: Wanderlust Tours is beyond excited to bring this event to life as part of our co-led tour series with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Join us for this co-led hiking tour at the incredible Newberry National Volcanic Monument, learning about the historical significance of this stunning caldera.
Naturalist Guided Experience: At 6,300 feet, our journey will take us to a mountain of pumice and obsidian— black volcanic glass integral to human life! We may explore the shores of the sparkling Paulina Lake, an area native Paiutes once called home. This special hiking tour will feature interpretation from both our award-winning naturalist guides as well as Starla “Pah tin why” Green, a member of the Warm Springs Tribe. During our adventure, your guides will impart their knowledge of local flora and fauna, native use, and much more!

Starla "Pah tin wy" Green
Member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs
Starla grew up on the banks of the Deschutes River, on the Reservation with her grandparents and parents. She was raised to live and carry out their traditional and cultural ways, still living by those ways today. Starla is a traditional food gatherer and protector of her traditional way of life and their Indigenous foods.
Starla retired from a career in law enforcement, but continues to work in the tourism industry and economic development. She is a graduate of Western Oregon University and has one daughter who is on track to graduate and ready to pursue her college career.
We are very fortunate to be able to work with Starla for the co-led tour series.
